Green Tip: Greening Your Office

There is a good article on Chelsea GREEN about Greening Your Office. The article is taken from a book titled Greening Your Office From Cupboard to Corporation: an A-Z Guide and is available here. I am not sure how good the book is, but the article is worth a read.

In hopes of starting my own blog about environmental health in America and more specifically discussing the ways in which schools and the work place are going green, the article, Greening Your Office, stood out to me. I think in the world we live in today, it is extremely important to do our part and do what we can to give back to our planet and help protect our environment. There are small measures that can be taken to make a space more sustainable and energy efficient. In my opinion, one of the key elements in this article was to keep the communication between the staff members flowing to make sure everyone’s on board. If a company or institution commits resources and key communication for promoting sustainable alternatives such as recycling, hazard waste removal, and the elimination of plastic, to name just a few, they set the tone and example for employees or students to get behind developing good habits and participation. Furthermore, good marketing of communication about environmental health is vital in order to get the word out and have ‘green’ solutions catch on, especially when focusing on such places as schools. When we have the opportunity to better our environment while saving some money and energy by making simple alterations in our behavior, why wouldn’t we?

I finally found a company that allows me to go green and buy biodegradable trash bags without being punished in the pocket book. Check out PrideGreen. You can find them on the web:

I have used these bags at my construction company. They are cheaper than non-green bags. What is even better is how well they perform. I need strong bags and these bags are strong.
