According to Treehugger, SunPower will install the highest efficiency solar panels on the market as well as the SunPower Tracker system, which tilts toward the sun as it moves across the sky. Two other facilites were also given the green light, one at Martin County and one at the Kennedy Space Center. Red Green and Blue also has some additioinal information on the plan as well as other renewable energy devleopments in the United States.

Solar is a good idea, but there are certainly pros and cons. The amount of water and energy required in producing Silicon is, for instance, a problem. The inconsistency (0-night-time energy production) is another problem. There are others, which you may want to examine on Debatepedia's pro/con article on the subject:

I think less consumption is an important part of any energy revolution. I am all for renewable energy like solar power, but we need to turn the thermostat down in our houses too.
